BlackBerry, Droid, Razr emit most radiation

Although there is yet to be any hard evidence or research done on the subject, many news organizations are warning of the risks of carrying cell phones on or near the skin. This comes after hearing the story of Tiffany Franz, a Strasburg resident who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 21, despite no family history or participation in risks that usually cause cancer.

Franz, according to the Be Aware Foundation that focuses on breast cancer prevention, carried her phone in her bra for 12 hours a day for six years, and later noticed a lump in the exact spot she carried her phone.

Update: Cell Phone and Breast Cancer
Be Aware Foundation, 1st March 2013

In the previous article on cell phone to breast contact and the risk of developing breast cancer, I described a 21 year old girl who started placing her cell phone in her bra at age 17. She stated that the phone was in contact with her breast for an average of 12 hours a day. She also stated that she sent more than 100 text messages a day. At age 21 she noted a lump in the center of her breast directly below where she stored her cell phone in her bra. An ultrasound of the breast was suspicious. An MRI showed multiple tumors distributed in roughly the area in which her cell phone was placed in contact with her breast. She required a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, but is now doing very well.

Since the last article, we have identified two women ages 21 and 34 who developed multiple small breast cancers directly below where their cell phones were placed in direct contact with their breasts. We now have a total of four patients under 40 years of age with multiple breast cancers in that area where their cell phones were in contact with their breasts. None of these patients had a family history of breast cancer or any other known risk factors for developing breast cancer.

Cell Phone and Breast Cancer Update
Be Aware Foundation, 1st September 2012

Let me start this update by first noting that there is no conclusive evidence that cell phones can cause breast cancer. That being said, I would like to provide some recent information that adds to my concern regarding the possible link between placing cell phones in direct contact with the breast and the risk of developing a breast cancer.

In a previous article I reviewed the limited literature on the subject and presented two cases of young women who placed their cell phones in their bras for a number of years. Each woman developed multiple small breast cancers directly below the area where the cell phone was placed on their breast. In the past year I have learned of numerous similar cases including one male who placed his cell phone in his shirt pocket (he had no family history of breast cancer).

Do not keep a cell phone in your bra!
Cell Phones and The Risk of Breast Cancer in Young Women
Be Aware Foundation, 1st June 2011

This month “Ask the Doctor” addresses an important but largely unrecognized health issue: cell phones and the risk of breast cancer in young women. The concern is based on my own personal observations, new scientific studies on how cell phones may alter cell metabolism, and a new public warning from the chairman of the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (ref. 1-4).

The bottom line is that I am convinced that there is a potential risk that cell phones that are in direct contact with the breast will increase the risk for developing a future breast cancer. The chairman of the prestigious Pittsburg Cancer Institute, Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, issued a memo of warning to his entire staff about the potential cancer risks associated with cell phones in contact with the body. He also noted that younger individuals are at increased risk as compared to adults (ref. 2). In other words, the younger the age at exposure, the greater the future risk of getting breast cancer.

What has me so concerned is the fact that so many young girls are hiding their cell phones in their bras. This is typically done during class time in an effort to conceal them from their teachers. This behavior is considered to be the “cool thing to do.”

United States: Reassessment of Federal Communications Commission Radiofrequency Exposure Limits and Policies

Thank you to the Editor of The Microwave Factor for keeping us up-to-date on EMF information world-wide.

Reassessment of Federal Communications Commission Radiofrequency Exposure Limits and Policies

The deadlines have been set for comments and reply comments in an FCC proceeding to reassess the limits and policies governing exposure to radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields. On March 29, the FCC released a long document which included both a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Notice of Inquiry.

The FCC Notice of Inquiry, ET Docket No. 13–84, FCC 13–39, was adopted March 27, 2013 and released March 29, 2013. However, the Notice of Inquiry was not published in the Federal Register until June 4, 2013. Being published in the Federal Register starts the official clock for a 90-day comment period.

Comments must be filed on or before September 3, 2013, and reply comments must be filed on or before November 1, 2013. The unusually long period for comments reflects the complexity of the proceeding and underscores the Commission’s desire for specific information on the costs and benefits related to the RF exposure issue.

Barrie Trower's Presentation to the Irish Doctors Environmental Association on the Dangers of Microwave-Based Communications Systems (Dublin, 20 April 2013): Part 2

Following is Part 2 of Barrie Trower's presentation to the Irish Doctors Environmental Association (IDEA) at its Annual General Meeting on 20 April 2013 in Dublin about the dangers of microwave based communications systems. This part of his presentation mentions the risks of Wi-Fi to children and the disappearance of bees.

Limits don’t protect children

The problem with heating standards, if they can be called standards at all - except in a microwave oven - is the vulnerability of children. Tolerance is a more appropriate term.

“Children are much more vulnerable than adults,” says Trower, “for two reasons: one, they have a higher water content in the body which means they absorb around 10 times more radiation than adults and the other is that the mitochondrial DNA suffers 10 times more stress than other bodily DNA. If you look at the child, the child is taking a 20-fold increase in danger than adults. This is also before we get onto their size. They also absorb more radiation because they are nearer the size of the wavelength and they act as aerials.”

Barrie Trower's Presentation to the Irish Doctors Environmental Association on the Danger of Microwave-Based Communications Systems (Dublin, 20 April 2013): Part 1

Barrie Trower, former Cold War spy debriefer and academic, warned members of the Irish Doctors Environmental Association (IDEA) at its Annual General Meeting on 20 April 2013 in Dublin about the dangers of microwave based communications systems. Following is the first part of his presentation. The second part, including the effects of microwaves on children, will be the next post. You will also find on this blog the 2011 interview of Danish documentary filmmaker and journalist Morten Julius with Barry Trower. Thank you to John Weigel for this text.

Barrie Trower lives in a world different to the rest of us. His world is every bit as dangerous as anything Tolkien could have dreamed up and with each passing day inches closer to engulf us. Very occasionally he surfaces to warn us but returns back to his world largely ignored.

The Truth Behind Bottled Water

Concord, Massachusetts, became the first town in the United States to ban the sale of plastic water bottles as a new bylaw went into effect on 1 January 2013, following three years of campaigning by local activists urging residents to return to tap water. Activists cited plastic waste, water waste, and the use of fossil fuels in the plastic water bottle industry as reasons to go back to the tap. "The bottled water companies are draining our aquifers and selling it back to us [earning billions of dollars]," said Jean Hill, leader of the Concord campaign. Americans consume roughly 50 billion small bottles of water each year.

A new Swiss documentary film, “Bottled Life” focuses on the Swiss company Nestlé, global leader in the lucrative multi-billion dollar bottled water market. Nestlé currently controls more than 70 of the world's bottled water brands, including Deer Park, Poland Springs, Perrier, San Pellegrino and Vittel. Its annual sales of bottled water alone total some CHF 10 billion.  The United States is by far the biggest market for Nestlé’s bottled water business. Whoever owns land or has acquired leasing rights is permitted to pump unlimited amounts of water.  Nestlé tries to stifle and suppress local opposition to its operations with an army of powerful PR consultants, lawyers and lobbyists.

We Must Abandon Nuclear Energy, NOW ! Call from Geneva II to the Political Authorities

There are about 440 nuclear reactors operating throughout the world.
"The text “ L’APPEL DE GENÈVE II ” has been written to awaken the public to the very real dangers which nuclear energy presents. It is hoped that each recipient of the text will forward it to many others and that this will result in insights, initiatives, publications and actions to encourage our governments to take their responsibilities for the dangers of nuclear energy generation seriously." :
Paul Bonny, citizen

CALL from GENEVA II to the POLITICAL AUTHORITIES
We must abandon nuclear energy, NOW !

Only twenty-five years have elapsed between the nuclear disasters of Chernobyl and Fukushima. And yet, we were assured that such accidents were virtually impossible!

Our politicians believed this, and so did we. In reality, though it is impossible to calculate the probability of such accidents, it was estimated that an accident would only occur once every 100,000 years. The sad reality is that there have been two accidents in the last twenty-five years. Today there are about 440 active nuclear plants operating throughout the world. The next disaster could happen anywhere and at any time.
